Today we’re announcing a powerful new layer for security controls by leveraging the new Device Trust from Android Enterprise. This integration will enable Omnissa customers to enhance their device security assessment prior to application access. Omnissa Workspace ONE Tunnel is one of the first apps to integrate with the new SDK, which allows us to better inspect Android device security posture with the most comprehensive APIs that Android has to offer.

Workspace ONE Tunnel provides secure tunneling to corporate apps and resources. It can be used to replace legacy VPN architectures with least-privilege policy authoring, real-time access enforcement, isolated device connectivity and strong TLS 1.3 encryption.

Device trust matters

Establishing device trust is critical for organizations as it determines the level of security a device requires, particularly when handling sensitive corporate data. Key concerns include:

  • Data leakage: Sensitive company information can be inadvertently or maliciously exposed if devices aren’t properly secured.
  • Unauthorized access: Without strong authentication and encryption, devices may be susceptible to unauthorized access or even hacking attempts.
  • App security: With millions of apps available on the Google Play Store and third-party stores, it’s vital to ensure that only secure, approved apps are used within the enterprise.
  • Lost or stolen devices: When an Android device is lost or stolen, without proper safeguards, corporate data could be exposed or misused.

That’s why Device Trust from Android Enterprise was created, to allow security solution providers a way to remediate these situations quickly.

How does it work?

Device Trust from Android Enterprise enables Omnissa applications, like Workspace ONE Tunnel, to collect meaningful security attributes to evaluate the trust posture of a device and provide a gateway for quicker policy evaluation.

This is a great complement to Workspace ONE UEM’s compliance capabilities, which evaluates security for managed devices enrolled with Workspace ONE MDM. Our new integration with Android Enterprise expands our UEM compliance and Gateway Policy capabilities to support unmanaged devices. See below on the expanded number of security attributes used to evaluate compliance.
