Institute of Technical Education Singapore and Omnissa collaborate to prepare Singapore’s future workforce for the modern digital workplace
- April 13, 2026
SINGAPORE, and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.– April 14, 2025 – The Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Singapore and Omnissa®, a leading digital work platform company, signed a letter of collaboration today to bring real-world digital work environments into the classroom, giving students access to virtual desktops powered by Omnissa Horizon® in ITE's Hybrid Cloud VDI Center. The collaboration prepares Singapore’s growing technical workforce by giving students practical experience with the platforms and environments used by modern organizations.
As organizations across Singapore continue to adopt virtualized and cloud-based digital work environments, employers seek graduates who can apply their learning in real-world settings. Through this collaboration, ITE and Omnissa aim to connect education more closely with the IT industry, giving students hands-on experience with enterprise-grade digital workspace and virtualization technologies from Omnissa. This is in line with ITE’s pedagogic approach of applied learning to help students transition smoothly into the workforce.
In addition to student learning, the Hybrid Cloud VDI Center also supports engagement with small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Using Omnissa Horizon as the underlying platform, organizations can build, test and apply solutions aligned to real business needs.
Co-Developing Industry-Aligned Capabilities
Omnissa and ITE plan to work together to co-develop industry-aligned capabilities that strengthen the relevance of technical education and support the broader digital ecosystem. This includes exploring joint innovation activities and providing support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through proof-of-concept (POC) solutions aligned with the broader End-User Computing ecosystem.
The collaboration also seeks to facilitate knowledge transfer and capability building between industry and educators, helping to ensure that teaching and learning at ITE remain current, applied, and aligned with evolving workplace technologies and practices.
Omnissa Horizon is a desktop virtualization platform that enables institutions like ITE to centrally provision and manage desktops and applications at scale, supporting the secure delivery of digital learning resources in a reliable and efficient way.
“Preparing students for the future requires more than classroom learning — it means giving them hands-on experience with the technologies and environments they will encounter in the workplace,” said Mr. Aw Kim Geok, Director, School of Electronics & Info-Comm Technology, ITE College Central. “Through our collaboration with Omnissa, we are strengthening the link between education and industry, and enabling our students to develop skills that are relevant and ready for real-world applications.”
“Experience plays a critical role in shaping future leaders,” said Bharath Rangarajan, senior vice president of products and technology alliances at Omnissa. “By providing the virtual desktop and application platform within ITE’s Hybrid Cloud VDI Center, Omnissa helps enable hands-on learning that benefits students, organizations, and Singapore’s future workforce.”
